MyLovely vs Rochat: Companion Continuity or Game State?

Decide whether continuity means a stable character across media or explicit objectives, counters and endings in an authored game.

What should remain continuous?

A companion can keep a recognizable identity while the situation changes. A game must also track whether its objective has been achieved. Confusing those two jobs leads to a common design problem: a character talks convincingly while the rules say something unrelated.

MyLovely’s About page describes persistent companions across chat, images and video. Rochat’s AI AVG guide documents objectives, scenes and numeric success/failure conditions. This is a difference in documented design emphasis, not evidence that one model is more accurate.

Put identity and state in separate notes

Consider an original fictional adult architect helping plan a community garden. Their patient speaking style and interest in accessible spaces belong to identity. The current site, agreed design constraint and unresolved decision belong to scene state.

If the activity becomes a game, you need another layer: what counts as completing the plan and what prevents completion. A pleasing conversation does not automatically establish that the player met those conditions.

Layer Example job
Character identity Preserve motivation and manner of speaking
Shared scene Preserve what has been agreed and what is undecided
Game state Track defined progress toward an objective
Visual identity Keep the intended fictional person recognizable

Rules should explain the outcome

Rochat’s guide calls for integer values, one success value and at least one failure value. It also warns that unclear rules can produce unexpected changes. A counter should therefore have an explicit cause: progress follows a relevant completed task, not simply more dialogue.

Its Character Info guide separately covers behavior and reactions. A detailed personality is still useful, but it does not replace the objective rules.

Review the modality your project depends on

For MyLovely, evaluate whether the fictional identity remains coherent in the actual outputs you need. A correct chat reply is not a visual-consistency test, and a good portrait is not a memory test. Keep a modest brief and record the conditions of any proposed evaluation.

MyLovely’s Terms also qualify the creative proposition with provider operation and improvement uses. Persistent identity does not mean exclusive control or zero processing.

Choose companion continuity when the recurring character is the central object. Choose explicit game authoring when objectives and endings must be designed. Neither source set supports promising deterministic execution, perfect recall or measured cross-media consistency.

Sources and scope

This comparison separates documented capabilities from editorial interpretation. Source access and any limitations are described in the article; a suggested evaluation is not a claim of completed testing.
